The team at Mán Melá includes:

* Dominic Rai (Artistic Director)

Dominic Rai is freelance director. He has worked as an actor, writing tutor and led various projects. He is especially interested in developing new writing and work that engages young people and community audiences.  As the Artistic Director of Mán Melá he is leading the current work on Flanders Forgotten Heroes. He is also researching a book, Chilli In Your Eyes, on the development of British Asian Theatre & writing 1985 to the present.

 

* Norman Goodman

Norman has lived in East London since 1960.He was a teacher in Tower Hamlets until 1984,when he joined the Half Moon Young People's Theatre in Stepney as education worker, where he worked with the company on devising theatre-in-education's first bi-lingual projects in Sylheti and English. He left the Half Moon in 1990 to become Arts Officer for the London Borough of Lewisham. It was here that he first met Dominic Rai and got to know the work of Mán Melá.

 

* Caroline Goffin (Administrator)

Caroline has been the company’s administrator since its inception in 1993 following an introductory course in spoken Hindi and Urdu through music and art which she attended at the Ackroyd Community Centre in Forest Hill, South London. She has been involved in the administration of non-profit organisations for many years, including short periods in India in 1986 and 1992.

 

* Jerry Deeks

Jerry Deeks is manager of the Brady Arts & Community Centre in Spitalfields and has lived and worked in East London for over twenty years. His background is in teaching and youth and community work, including arts provision in both the voluntary and statutory sectors. He first became involved with Man Mela in 2000 when the company performed 'The Cornershop'at the Brady Centre. He is particularly interested in the work Man Mela does to encourage participation in arts activities by young people.

 

* Harpreet Kaur

Harpreet Kaur has been passionate about British Asian Theatre from a young age and has been working in the arts industry for four years. She started her career as a Marketing Assistant at Tamasha Theatre Company which led her to gain a place on the ITC Fast Track Programme in 2001. She has worked at the Half Moon Young People's Theatre, Soho Theatre, Jackson's Lane, 2 years at SAMPAD South Asian Arts as a programmer and projects co-ordinator, and now is Audience Development Officer at Audiences Central, the audience development agency for the arts in the West Midlands. She is particularly interested in Theatre in Education, and projects that allow young British Asian people to get involved in all aspects of theatre production from performance to stage management.

 

* Ajay Pamneja

Ajay came in contact with the company in 2000 while launching his website www.asiangigs.com.  He has been in regular contact since and has provided technical guidance and support with the website and other matters to the company.  He is an IT Professional and is passionate about Indian theatre.

Ajay offers services in the fields of IT, Accounts and Event Planning as a freelancer.
